TORMAX worked in close collaboration with main contractor Borras Construction to design, manufacture, and install a fully integrated automatic entrance solution for Hounslow  Council's newly redeveloped Meadowbank Community Hub and Library. The installation comprises of two swing doors that automatically open outwards to welcome visitors into a convenient lobby, providing protection from the weather and minimising heat loss from the building.

A large single sliding door then provides access into the main reception area.  Both sets of doors are powered using TORMAX’s in-house designed iMotion operators with the entire solution being engineered for intensive public use, delivering quiet operation, robust reliability, and industry-leading safety functionality compliant with modern access standards. The Meadowbank project represents a significant redevelopment, transforming the former facility into a modern, multi-use hub incorporating adult education spaces, library services, and community support functions.

The upgraded civic building required an entrance solution capable of managing continuous pedestrian flow while maintaining environmental separation between interior and exterior zones. The TORMAX entrance system was specified for its ability to deliver consistent performance under these demanding operational conditions.

With over 60 years of experience in door automation, TORMAX offers a complete range of access solutions to suit almost any location. Their iMotion door drives combine intelligent microprocessor control with self-learning functionality and gearless synchronous motor technology, delivering ultra-smooth, low-noise operation, exceptional reliability, and virtually maintenance-free performance even under high traffic conditions.

At the Meadowbank Hub the outer doors are powered by the iMotion 1301 swing door operator with the inner sliding door being driven by the iMotion 2202. The two systems work in harmony, with the lobby arrangement enhancing thermal performance and security of the building.  www.tormax.co.uk
