The Sash Window Workshop Utilises Vacuum Glazing To Transform Energy Efficiency

Balancing heritage conservation with contemporary performance was a top priority for this period home renovation. The client approached The Sash Window Workshop seeking a long-term solution —one that was built to last, improving thermal efficiency and acoustic comfort without sacrificing the home's historic character.

With thermal performance a key priority, Fineo vacuum glass proved the ideal choice. It offers insulation comparable to triple glazing, with a centre-pane U-value as low as 0.7 W/m²K, within a slim, lightweight unit suitable for traditional windows. After careful consideration, the client selected an acoustic option, Fineo Acoustic vacuum glazing, which can provide sound reduction of up to 42dB.

Prior to installation, they were concerned that the support pillars within the glazing units might be visible. However, once installed, they found the pillars to be far less noticeable than expected and something that disappeared into the background.

The installation was completed by The Sash Window Workshop's fitting team, who the client noted were “punctual, courteous and extremely considerate throughout”. The owners of the property were particularly impressed by The Sash Window Workshop’s professionalism throughout the project and commented: "The windows look entirely in keeping with the character of our home. The Fineo Acoustic glass has made a remarkable difference in reducing traffic and aircraft noise, and we look forward to the benefits of improved energy efficiency."
